INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Police have started investigating an incident in which a 1-year-old had his face pummeled after his mother dropped him off at his daycare.
According to the boy’s mother, Tiffany, she received a phone call Monday from the Kiddiegarden daycare a few hours after dropping off her baby and his older sibling.
When she arrived at the daycare she said she could hear her baby, Jesse, screaming. She would find that her baby had cuts to his face and that both of his eyes and lips were swollen.
Outraged, the woman admits she lashed out in anger and punched the 22-year-old daycare worker who was supposed to be looking after the children.
Baby Jesse was taken to the hospital to have his injuries treated and to make sure he isn’t suffering from injuries that could cause long-term damage.
Tiffany said the worker told her a 2-year-old girl was responsible for the baby’s injuries. A claim that Tiffany, as well as the accused 2-year-old girl, find hard to believe.
“It’s no way a baby, a 2-year-old and that baby was small and she didn’t look like she was the violent type and her mom said she wasn’t the violent type and her mom said scratches her baby might do but when seen that picture she started crying and said her baby wouldn’t do anything like that,” Tiffany said.
The resulting police report seems to back up Tiffany’s belief that the daycare worker is responsible for her son’s injuries as it lists her as the suspect. However, the daycare says they’ll be able to prove a child was responsible for the injuries and not an employee.
No charges or arrests have been made at this time and the police are still investigating, so keep those pitchforks in the shed.
Despite their belief their employee did not re-arrange Jesse’s face, they did fire the worker and released the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened about what took place yesterday afternoon to Jesse. We at Kiddiegarden pride ourselves on not only providing quality service to families, but also providing a clean, safe and healthy environment for all of our children since we opened our doors three years ago. Kiddiegarden has never had any accusations of abuse or maltreatment from any of our children or parents. This was truly a sad, shocking and unfortunate event. We have been diligently working with law enforcement, child protective services, as well as state agencies on this matter. We have been fully cooperative and transparent with law enforcement to complete their investigation. Our hearts go out to Jesse and his family and are praying for his well being. Due to this still being an ongoing investigation, we are not at liberty to disclose any further details. We have confidence in the detectives who are handling the investigation to give us a final report of the incident, which we will make public. At that time we will make another statement addressing the matter.”
