VENTNOR, NJ – A woman confessed to bludgeoning her mother and grandmother to death in their condo on July 7th.
Heather Barbera, 42, evidently wanted to live it up and have a rip-roaring time in Atlantic City and later in Manhattan.
However, she needed a way to fund her luxurious desires.
So, according to reports, Barbera used a nightstick to beat her mom and granny to death. She then took their cash and credit cards before hightailing it to Atlantic City.
The bodies of the two women – 67-year-old Michelle Gordon and 81-year-old Elaine Rosen – were discovered by Barbera’s uncle. He’d stopped by the condo on July 8th to see why they were not answering his calls.
“It was unimaginable,” he said. “It was horrible, they were both on the floor. There was blood all over. I was hoping they were alive, even though they were dead.”
Police didn’t have a hard time finding Barbera as she was leaving a credit card trail all over Manhattan as she stayed in a luxury hotel and enjoyed a shopping spree as she walked toward Times Square.
Law enforcement would eventually find Barbera sitting on steps near the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Shortly after being taken into custody, Barbera allegedly confessed to using a nightstick to murder her mother and grandmother. She’s now facing charges including murder and robbery.
Barbera’s uncle said she has emotional issues and believes that Barbera is addicted to pills. She had moved in with her mother and grandmother after her marriage fell apart.
Interestingly enough, Barbera’s Facebook page portrayed her as a sweet, loving daughter who loved her mom so much that she was compelled to post a throwback pic of them with the heartfelt comment, “My mother, my backbone, and little me back in the day — feeling blessed.”
I wonder how blessed she is feeling right at this very moment?
