KINGSPORT, TN – A home intruder bit off more than he could chew when he tried forcing his way into a home and got his ass beat by a woman wielding a baseball bat.
This happened couple of weeks ago but I couldn’t resist showing off this moron’s mugshot. The incident happened on April 29 when a 52-year-old woman answered a knock at her door.
When she opened her door she was greeted by a woman holding a flyer about a lost dog. It was then that a masked man stepped into the doorway, grabbed the woman’s arm and tried to pull her outside.
When the woman resisted, the man pushed her inside the home and shouted, “This is a robbery!” The two struggled for a bit during which the woman was able to partially remove the man’s mask and see that he was a longtime family friend, Joe Sotello.
She also noticed what appeared to be a handgun tucked in Sotello’s waistband.
The woman, standing at 4 feet 11 inches tall, was able to grab a baseball bat from behind the door and use it to fight back. Two 18-year-old females were also in the home and joined in the fray, forcing Sotello out of the home.
Once outside, Sotello tried jumping into a car being driven by the woman who had been holding the flyer – who turned out to be his girlfriend – but he was unable to do so due to his ass still getting kicked by the three women.
Sotello’s girlfriend drove off while he finally managed to flee on foot. Police would apprehend him a short time later after he went to the home of one of the victim’s relatives and was detained after yet another fight.
Sotello was arrested on aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary charges. Sotello confessed to the crime, stating that he “had been going through some hard times.”
His girlfriend came to police voluntarily and claimed she had no idea what her boyfriend planned to do once in the home and that she only went along with Sotello because she was afraid of him. She has not been charged at this time.
