LAKELAND, FL — Police have charged a couple with the murder of the man’s 6-year-old daughter.
Last week, 26-year-old Larry Golden Jr. called 911 to report he had found his 6-year-old daughter, Honesty Curry, unresponsive in her bed.
When paramedics arrived at Golden’s apartment they found Honesty lying unresponsive on the living room floor.
Honesty was rushed to the hospital where doctors would find the girl suffering from bruises and lacerations all over her body. Even worse, she had severe skull damage and adult bite marks on her inner thigh.
To give you an idea on just how severe the girl’s skull damage was, one crack went from one ear, over her head, to the other. Another fracture penetrated the thickest area of her skull.
Despite best efforts to save Honesty, the girl would die two days later.
When questioned about the girl’s injuries, Golden and his live-in girlfriend, 21-year-old Breonna Wren, claimed the injuries were self-inflicted. They said Honesty purposefully slammed her head into a wall.
When they were told there was no way that could cause all the injuries the girl had suffered, Wren admitted to striking Honesty with a belt and said that Golden hit his daughter with an object in the kitchen.
But it was Honesty’s 4-year-old sister that gave police a little more information on what happened to Honesty. She said she was afraid of both Wren and her father, and that she watched Wren punch the girl in the face, stomach, and eye.
She also told police that Wren was only mean to Honesty but not her and Golden’s own two children — two children who police say had no injuries whatsoever.
The girl went on to say that her father had instructed her to lie to police when questioned about Honesty, and to tell them the injuries had been self-inflicted.
A search warrant would turn up even more evidence, including the interior of the residence having been cleaned with bleach prior to first responders entering the apartment.
Golden and Wren, who is 7-months-pregnant, were both arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abuse. They are being held without bond at the Polk County Jail.
Honesty’s sister is back with her biological mother, while Golden and Wren’s two children — ages 1 and 3 — are in the care of the state Department of Children and Families.
