ECTOR COUNTY, TX – A 19-year-old woman has been accused of beating her 3-month-old daughter to death with a dresser drawer.
Klarissa Ramirez brought her daughter to the Medical Center Hospital emergency room with her unresponsive daughter.
She claimed that she and the girl’s father had fed her and placed her in a baby seat in the living room. They walked away only to return and find her unresponsive.
After examing the girl, doctors found she was suffering from fractured ribs on both sides of her torso as well as a fractured skull.
When confronted with the fact that the injuries her daughter suffered did not match up to her story, Ramirez admitted she was solely responsible.
She said she had squeezed her daughter and then struck her in the head with a dresser drawer. Ramirez was arrested on May 8 and charged with injuries to a child. She bonded out the next day.
The charges against Ramirez were upgraded to capital murder in July after her daughter died and the cause of death was ruled a homicide. She was placed back in jail on a $250,000 bond.
On September 10, Ramirez was indicted on the murder charges by a grand jury. No trial date has been set.
